Release Notes
We ship often. Here's what's new in MacroBurn, newest first.
- v2.35Improved Fixed
Sharper meal ID and a tidier fuel list
Two things this release. AI meal identification got sharper: snap the same plate twice and we reuse your earlier estimate instantly instead of re-analysing, duplicate meal names are tidied up automatically, the photo you snap is now saved with the meal’s details, and slow estimates now have room to finish rather than timing out mid-analysis.
We also consolidated your workout fuel on the home screen. Repeated items now collapse onto a single line with a quantity, so two Clif Bars show as one “2x Clif Bar” row instead of two. Your fuel list stays short and easy to scan, with calories and carbs still totalled underneath.
- v2.32Improved Fixed
QuickLog reads your photo and notes together
Fixed a QuickLog bug where a photo and your written notes weren’t analysed together. Now the AI considers both at once. Snap the plate, add a note like “large serve, extra olive oil”, and you get a more accurate estimate.
Thanks to AO for reporting this one. 🙏
- v2.30New
MacroBurn is live 🔥
This is it. Our first public release. After a focused private beta, MacroBurn is now available to every endurance athlete.
Training and fuelling, in one place: pull your sessions, see your daily macro targets adapt to what you ride and run, and plan the meals to hit them. Thanks to everyone who tested, broke things, and told us what mattered. The build-up below is everything that landed on the way here, and there’s plenty more coming.
- v2.29Improved
Launch-ready polish
The final pre-launch pass. We added a gentle in-app review prompt that only appears once you’ve actually explored the core features, and smoothed the transition from closed beta to public release.
- v2.28New Improved
Plan your races and big goals
Tell MacroBurn what you’re training for. A new onboarding flow captures your big goal up front and creates it as a favourited A-event, so everything else orients around the day that matters.
You can now create, edit, favourite and delete your own events and races, and the add/edit experience has been redesigned as a clean bottom sheet with a native date picker.
- v2.27New
Smarter fuelling for long days
Dial in your on-bike nutrition. We’ve added a cycling-fuel catalog of gels, drinks and bars, a saved fuel bag so your go-to products are a tap away, and per-workout carbs-per-hour targets so you can plan exactly what to carry and when to take it. Fuel is aggregated and summarised right on the workout card.
- v2.26New Improved
Macro targets, with the science
Curious where your numbers come from? Tap into a new methodology modal that cites the sources behind your macro targets, linked from both onboarding and your profile. Workout fuel items are now aggregated and sorted on the workout card so the day reads clearly.
- v2.26New
Talk to your data with MCP
This is a big one. You can now connect Claude and other AI agents that speak the Model Context Protocol (MCP) directly to your MacroBurn data, and just talk to it.
Ask “what should I eat to hit my carbs today?”, “log a 90g-carb gel on tomorrow’s long ride”, or “how’s my weight trending toward race day?”. The assistant reads and updates your real training and nutrition for you. Under the hood it’s a full toolset: your meals, food entries, weight, workouts, events, weekly meal plans, shopping lists and fuel bag are all available as agent tools, with a least-squares weight trend and goal projection built in.
Access is secured with a proper OAuth 2.1 flow (PKCE, short-lived tokens, revocation) and an explicit consent screen, so you grant access deliberately and can pull it any time. Connect once, then manage your training the way you’d talk to a coach. It’s the foundation for a lot of what’s next.

- v2.23Improved
Smarter weekly meal planning
Auto-fill your whole week with athlete-quality meals, then get a shopping list to match. Picks now rotate across days so you’re not eating the same thing on repeat, and small calorie gaps get topped up with sensible whole-food snacks instead of an awkward extra meal. We also pruned the catalog down to a curated set of meals that actually earn their place.
- v2.22New
Apple Health and Health Connect
MacroBurn now talks to your phone’s health data. Sync your weight from Apple Health on iOS and Health Connect on Android, with each value clearly attributed to its source. Onboarding can pre-fill your starting weight straight from Health, so there’s one less thing to type.
- v2.10New
A real cycling-fuel catalog
We seeded a catalog of real cycling fuel (gels, drinks and bars) built from public nutrition data, so logging what you took on the bike is a search away instead of a manual entry.
- v2.15New Improved
Dynamic macro targets
Your macro targets are no longer a fixed number. The fuel you take on the bike and the credit you earn from your workouts now ride into your daily protein, carb and fat targets, so the numbers reflect what you actually did rather than a flat guess. The home screen’s calorie legend was updated to match real consumption.
- v2.13New
Sync diagnostics and instant updates
You can now see your sync status right on your profile row, so it’s obvious when your data last came through. We also added over-the-air updates. Pull to refresh and the app checks for the latest improvements without a trip to the app store.
- v2.0New
MacroBurn 2.0
A rebuilt foundation for everything that follows: a faster, cleaner app shell that set us up to ship quickly through the beta. Most of the features above landed on top of this in the weeks that followed.
- v0.2.2New
First TestFlight beta
Where it all began. MacroBurn went out to its first external testers on iOS via TestFlight, with HealthKit wired up from day one. Rough around the edges, but the idea was already there: training and fuelling, in one place. Thank you to the early testers who shaped everything above.
